Top Glass adds day of plant tours to 10th anniversary edition
January 23, 2024 By Patrick Flannery
Top Glass, Canada’s event for the architectural glass industry, has added a day of tours of local glass and façade fabrication facilities to its 2024 agenda. On April 29, the day before the main conference, attendees will have an opportunity to go behind the scenes at Saand and Bigfoot Door to tour the facilities, learn how glazed building components are made and quiz staff and managers about their products and processes.
At Saand Rexdale on Attwell Drive, guests will see examples of glass lamination, heat treating, heat soaking, digital and screen printing and fabrication of insulating glass units, spandrel and mirror. Saand is a family-owned Canadian business fabricating glass products in four facilities for over 40 years.
Bigfoot Door manufactures high-end aluminum fenestration for luxury custom homes, including doors, windows, curtainwall, lift-and-slide and folding entrances. The company has recently invested in a state-of-the art CNC automated cutting and processing centre to expand capacity at its 80,000-square-foot facility. Attendees will see aluminum profile cutting and welding; custom fenestration glazing; curtainwall fabrication and Bigfoot’s impressive display showroom.
Registration and admission to the plant tours is free. PPE is required and available for a fee. Guests will provide their own transportation to the plant sites, with directions included with registration confirmation.
Following the April 29 tours, guests will be invited to get together at Moxies at the Sandman Signature hotel, 55 Reading Court, Toronto, for drinks and discussion.
The regular Top Glass conference and exhibits takes place April 30 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont.
